A Huge fight breaks out between 200 migrants in Calais: nine wounded

TENSIONS - A violent brawl broke out Thursday night in Calais, for unknown reasons encores, 200 Afghan and Sudanese migrants. Nine people had to be taken to hospital.
Nine people were injured in a giant brawl that broke out Thursday night between 200 migrants from the "jungle" of Calais.

The fight broke out at 22h, near the day centers for migrant center said the prefecture of Pas-de-Calais told AFP. "It was a fight between 200 migrants. The assessment reports of nine minor injuries, six Sudanese and three Afghans, all transported to the hospital in Calais" she said, adding that calm had returned to midnight.


 The reason for the brawl still unknown
 For now, the reason for the brawl is unknown to the police. But the confrontation was violent: "They were beaten with iron bars, hammers, shovels and slings," explains Gilles Debove, police and union representative SGP-Police Force Ouvrière Unit. "It was not possible to intervene in the camp, the police remained outside and were taken in part with stone throwing as migrants wanted to invade the ring road," he added .

About 3,000 migrants, mainly from East Africa, Afghanistan and Syria, are in and around Calais hoping to reach England, which they consider an Eldorado. To reach the United Kingdom, migrants try either to get on heavyweight who will then embark on buses, ferries to the port of Calais to Dover or to piggyback ride on the shuttle who use the Channel Tunnel.
